Arizona Insurance Rates and Claims

There are a number of things that will go into how your rates will come out on your Arizona auto insurance policy. Some of the more obvious include accidents, tickets and claims. These days if I personally suffer a smaller loss, I don’t even consider turning in a claim for fear of a rate increase. Now, if the loss is over $1000, then of course I’m calling however I have seen some turn in claims on very minor losses.

Lets say someone does $200 worth of damage to your vehicle one night. The first thing you may think to do is call your insurance company. If you have a very low deductible this may be an option but do you really want this minor loss to stain your record. Rates are like credit, to be in a good position it takes time building trust. I tend to only use my insurance if there is no doubt in my mind I need to. Otherwise I keep my track record as clean as I can in order to continue receiving lower premiums. Who really wants to turn in a a minor claim to find there rates go up in 6 months.

If you get into an accident, there may not be too much you can do if you are found negligent. However, with traffic violations there is always the option of taking a defensive driving course to keep it off your MVR record. You can only do this if you haven’t attended a course in two years so keep that in mind also.

There are several other rating factors that come into play, some you can read about on article provided by low-insurance.org, 14 insurance rating factors. The more we know how to control our rates, the better position we will be left in.
